When installing Monterey on an M1 Mac, you get an error message: "You must provide authorisation for this volume by setting it as your startup disk."
You must run the upgrade as an admin user. Temporarily providing admin credentials sometimes doesn't work. Try relaunching the installer after authorisation has been provided. Or install in recovery mode.
