(Up to OJB's Styles Page) Matua Valley Cabernet - Merlot 2003Tasted: | 27 Mar 2005 (age 2 years) | Name: | Matua Valley (116) | Variety: | Cabernet - Merlot (2) | Year: | 2003 | Producer: | Matua Valley | Region: | Hawkes Bay | Rating: | ok | Web Site: | http://www.matua.co.nz | | The colour was strong medium ruby red. The bouquet was jammy with berry fruit, and light vanilla oak. The wine had a soft smooth start, ripe berry fruit, and a dry firm tannic finish. This was a fairly simple style, but had quite well balanced fruit and wood. |
Note 1 I am not really a wine expert (just an enthusiastic amateur), so please don't take my recommendations as anything more than a rough guide to these wines. I can take no responsibility if you buy a lot, on my recommendation, and then regret it! Note 2 You may not agree with my evaluation of these wines as a lot of this is quite subjective. I tend to put a lot of emphasis on complexity and intense characteristic flavours and bouquet, so if you disagree you might just have different priorities. ![[Up]](../XuShared/Up2B.jpeg)
